I have just written a letter to Prince Cosimo’s mother, the Grand Duchess Cristina, in which  I have explained my proposal for the aforementioned medal to commemorate the prince’s marriage to Maria Maddelena of Austria.  The globe-shaped lodestone is in itself  an allegory of Cosimo and of the Medici coat of arms, which contains six globes (COSMOS!)
